Born Liv Rundgren Tyler in New York City, NY (USA) on 1st July, 1977. Liv Tyler is the daughter of a rock guitarist and a model. Modeling was a first career choice for Tyler, but she had a change of heart and turned to acting full-time in 1994.
She enjoyed success in several supporting roles before earning international stardom for her portrayal of the elf princess, Arwen, in the “Lord of The Rings” movies. Though busy with her career, Tyler has found time since 2003 to serve as a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador for the USA.

Even in films that did not receive the accolades of the critics, Tyler’s performances always seem to merit praise. Her work in awkward roles, such as the part she played in “Stealing Beauty” in 1996 garnered comments such as: “appears to have responded effortlessly and intuitively to the camera…” Her work in the LOTR series pushed her further into the limelight as a critically acclaimed actress.
Very little of Liv Tyler’s acting work has met with criticism. The critics have berated a number of films in which Tyler appears, and yet her work seems to always merit a kind remark. She even got a couple of nice words for the awful movie, “the Jersey Girl”. If she has acting flaws, she’s yet to bare them.
Along with the rest of the cast of the three LOTR Movies, Liv Tyler has won 2 Phoenix Film Critics Society Awards for Best Cast, One SAG Award for Best Performance by a Cast, A National Board of Review Award for Best Cast and Online Film Critic’s Award for Best Ensemble. Tyler also won the Teen Choice Award for Best Actress in a Horror/Thriller film for her work in the 2008 film, “The Strangers”.
