Olga Morozova was born on the 22nd of February, 1949. The retired professional player was born in Moscow, Russia, and competed for the Soviet Union. She started her tennis career at the early age of 16 and won the Wimbledon junior’s singles title in the year 1965.

She also has the honor of being the first Russian player who managed to reach the finals of the singles title of a major tournament – the Italian Open in the year 1972.

Morozova’s career was quite short because of the policy of the Soviet Union to compete against the South Africans. Her career ended in the year 1977 after which she served as a coach for the British National Team and the Soviet team.

The highlight of her career came in the year 1974 when she became the runner up contestant at the French Open and the Wimbledon Championship. In both these tournaments, she lost the match against the tennis player Chris Evert.

Moreover, she was also awarded as the first tennis player to get teamed up with Chris Evert and win the Grand Slam title for the women’s doubles championship in the year 1974 at the French Open. Earlier, she teamed up with Alex Metreveli to reach the finals of the Grand Slam and became the first player from the Soviet Union to win the 1968 Wimbledon.

Additionally, they also managed to reach the finals of the 1970 Wimbledon losing against Ilie Nastase and Rosemary Casals. Morozova was also the runner up contestant in the women’s doubles titles three times at the Grand Slam. In the 1975 Australian Open tournament, she was teamed with Peggy Michel and Evonne Goolagong Cawley.
