Renée Kathleen Zellweger was born in April of 1969 in Katy, Texas (USA). She was a college English major who only took a Drama course because she needed the credits. That course and a few lucky breaks brought her to the role of one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses.

Career Highlights

From her less than spectacular debut in her first major film, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation” to her Academy Award winning performance as Best Supporting Actress in “Cold Mountain” in 2003, we have enjoyed watching this young woman grow and mature into her role as a star.

Renée has certainly developed a knack for taking on a variety of roles and from all accounts puts herself into them heart and soul.

Her tenacity allowed her to gain 20 pounds and adopt a believable British accent for her part in “Bridget Jones Diary” and then put on quite a convincing dance routine in the film “Chicago”, even though she reportedly “can’t dance”.

If she has faults as an actress, we have yet to discover them. She is not classically beautiful, but that seems to work to her advantage and her ability to dress herself up or down works can be quite an asset.

Her Academy Award for “Cold Mountain” is probably her biggest win so far, but she also landed a Golden Globe for Best Actress and a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for “Chicago” in 2002. She has won two Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. She was one of the highest paid actresses in 2007.
