PSV or PSV Eindhoven is a Dutch professional league football team located in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The club was founded on August 31, 1931, currently playing in the Dutch top-flight “Eredivise”. PSV football club plays home games at Philips stadium capacity of 35,000 spectators.

PSV Eindhoven is often nicknamed “Boren (Peasants)” and “Rood-Witten (Red-Whites)”. The club plays home games in Red and White stripe jersey with Black shorts and away games in Black jersey with Red shorts. Phillips is the main sponsor of the PSV Eindhoven team.

PSV Eindhoven is regarded as the most successful and popular football league team in Europe. After 10 years of its formation, PSV was promoted to the First division and since then they have always been a top-flight team. They won the first league title in 1929 and won the first Dutch Cup in 1950. The club has won 21 Dutch titles in its 95-years history, while they lifted the Dutch Cup 8 times; the national Super Cup eight times. Moreover, they won the European Cup in 1988 and the UEFA Cup in 1978- makes them the second club to do so in the Netherlands.

The 1970s is the best era for PSV. Kees Rijvers was the coach of PSV at that time and he guided the team to lift many trophies in that time. They not only win the Dutch title in 1978 but also won the UEFA Cup. Again in 1975 and 1976, they won the Dutch title including the Dutch Cup title in 1974 and 1976. Willy van der Kuijlen is the all-time leading goal scorer for PSV, scoring 309 goals in 528 league appearances.

PSV is the most dominating team in the Eredivisie, came 3rd in last season, and currently playing on the top of the Eredivisie table with 61 points in 28 games. Behind them, there are FC Twente with 60 points on the current on-going 2010/11 season.
