Here are some of the classic and marvelous finals of Wimbledon:

Federer won his 15th Grand Slam title (2009)

King Federer is known to limit his game to 3 sets and win it. But in 2009, Federer played till the last set against Roddick and claimed his 15th Grand Slam and 5th Wimbledon title. Federer claimed an amazing 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5) 3-6, 16-14 win while leaving Roddick exhausted.

Roger vs. Rafa (2008)

It was the most remarkable match for its being the longest battle between Federer and Rafa. It took them 288 minutes to win the five sets final match of Wimbledon. On top of it, a rain shower added a delay in the match. While being 2 sets lower, Federer got back into the game, but Nadal with his play claimed his first Wimbledon title.

Super Star Federer (2007)

The all-time rivals of the 21st century, Roger and Nadal played the final of Wimbledon 2007. Federer had a chance to equal Borg’s record of five straight Wimbledon titles. Federer took the lead in the first set by 3-0 but Nadal had a come-back and this game continued till it reached the last set. Federer claimed this title by saving four breakpoints. It sure was an amazing match.

Glorious Ivanisević (2001)

Ivanisević finally got a chance to win the Wimbledon title in 2001 after being a runner up in the previous three finals. But fate had something else for him as he got a shoulder injury. He entered the tournament with a wild card to make his way to the final of Wimbledon 2001. Ivanisević defeated Patrick Rafter in an epic five-set final and claimed the title.

Edberg at his best against Becker (1990)

For some reason, Becker took sleeping pills before the 1990 Wimbledon final against Edberg. This made Becker a sleepwalker in the first two sets. Edberg played at his best and his flawless play made him win the first two sets. Becker somehow got a wake-up call and stormed back into the match but Edberg claimed the victory by the end.

Wimbledon offered these and many other memorable moments of enthralling play. Let’s see what Wimbledon 2010 has in for us and players!
