He was the only first player to net four goals during UEFA championships competitions as well.

Michael Platini closes the list of three-time ballon d’Or winners in recent history. He is the second Dutch footballer to claim this trophy, making the Netherlands the only country with two players owning the award. He first won the trophy in 1984, they maintained a firm grip on the trophy for the next two years including 1984 and 1985.
