Michelle Lynn Monaghan was born on 23rd March, 1976 in Winthrop, Iowa (USA) to a working class family.

Career Highlights

At age 44, Monaghan made the transition, as do many beautiful women, from modeling to acting, at first getting small parts on popular television series and working her way up to a regular on the series, “Boston Public”.

Then, she got some small roles in films, leading up to her first break action film, “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang”. Later, she got more action and gained more star power with her role in “Mission Impossible III”.

Obviously beauty is considered a highly desirable trait in a leading woman, especially in the action film genre when so many hunky-looking guys are playing the lead roles.

I think most are surprised by Michelle’s acting abilities. While she has not had the opportunity as yet, to fully mature in dramatic role, I have little doubt this resourceful young woman could do so.

If she had a weakness, it may be the same beauty that makes her so easy to cast in an action-film female lead. She has been stereotyped by her looks and, as such, is not offered the roles that might provide her with a ramp up to more dramatic work.

That is, of course, supposing she wants to “really act”. She might just prefer making lots of money and working opposite guys like Tom Cruise. Michelle Monaghan’s only award to date is a San Diego Film Critics Society Award for Best Actress, given for her performance in the 2008 film, “Trucker”.
