Born on 24th March 1987, he is widely regarded as the first true superstar to have come out of Bangladeshi cricket. He is 33 years old, but already carries the dreams and aspirations of the entire Bangladeshi nation. He is a left-handed middle order batsman and an orthodox left arm off spinner.

He started as an under 19 player in 2005 and was drafted into international cricket in 2006 in all formats. He had his ODI debut on 6 August 2006 and his T20I debut on 28 November 2006. He went on to debut in Test matches on 18 May 2007.

Since then he has not really looked back. His international career is quite young as such, things are reckoned, but he has already achieved a long list of laurels. He first shot into prominence when he took 7-36 against New Zealand in a Test match and as the saying goes, he never looked back after that.

Since, he has built a very impressive list of achievements including to be named as the Test player of the year by Wisden in November 2009. That was after he led his side to a historic win in a Test series against West Indies. He has the unique honor of remaining as the world number one all-rounder according to the ICC rankings from January 2009 to April 2011.

He also had the honor of leading the Bangladeshi cricket side in all formats until September 2011. He is a brilliant cricketer who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL and Khulna Royal Bengals in BPL.

He is the first Bangladesh cricket player who has scored a 100 in an inning and simultaneously preyed 5 Pakistani batsmen in the 2nd Test against Pakistan cricket team. Although Bangladesh lost the Test series, he was awarded as the Player of the Match.

In 2006 one day international matches, Shakib Al Hasan has scored 6323 runs where his height score so far is 134. He has scored 9 centuries and 47 fifties in ODI format of cricket. In the current Bangladesh cricket squad, Shakib is the only c who never lets down his team.

He is excellent with the bat and can be a very dangerous hitter when it comes to critical stages in matches. In 2015 ICC Cricket world cup, Shakib will again be tested for his skills and his role is going to be very important for Bangladesh cricket team.
