Romário de Souza Faria or popularly known to be Romario was born on the 29th of January, 1966 in Brazil. The former footballer played as a striker in his team. Later on, he also became the manager of the team. He also participated in politics for some time.
Romario has greatly helped the national football team of Brazil to gain the trophy at the FIFA World Cup 1994 after which he was considered to be among the most prolific strikers in the world.
He was also awarded to be the FIFA World Player of the Year and also won the World Cup Golden Ball after which he was forwarded to the FIFA Dream Team and was added among the 125 Greatest Living Football Players in the 100th-anniversary celebrations of FIFA. In addition to this, he is also among those few strikers who crossed the mark of making 1000 goals.
Being a part of the National Brazilian team, Romario managed to win the silver medal at Olympics in Seoul in the year 1988 by scoring a total of 7 goals. He also participated in the team in the World Cup of 1990 and 1994. He played 85 international matches in which he scored
71 goals grabbing the position to become the second-highest goalscorer in the history of the Brazilian team. Moreover, he served as a reserve player in the World Cup of 1990 and played for only 66 minutes against Scotland.
In April 2005, Romario played his last match with the Brazilian national team in a friendly match against Guatemala. He was made the captain of the team in that match and won it.
