Blaise Matuidi is a 24-year-old French-born (9 April 1987) footballer of Angolan descent who plays his football for The French Ligue 1 football club Saint-Etienne who stands in at 1.75 meters (5 feet and 9 inches). He’s also represented France the country of his birth at the international level.

Matuidi started his professional football career at the football club, Troyes, after breaking through from their youth team in 2004. He stayed at Troyes till 2007 making a total of 67 appearances and scoring 4 goals primarily as a defensive midfielder or box to box midfielder.

He then caught the eye of Saint-Etienne who he signed for in 2007. This is where Matuidi primarily rose to fame after his brilliant performances as a defensive midfielder. He’s made 132 appearances for Saint-Etienne so far scoring 3 goals.

Maitudi’s strengths lie in his strong tackling skills and his aggressiveness. He makes up for the lack of goals with his hard work rate and hard defensive skills. Standing at only 5 feet 9 inches he may be short compared to modern footballers but he is one of the strongest footballers in Ligue 1.

Because of his strong commanding tackling and skills, he was named Saint-Etienne’s Captain by the team’s manager in 2009/2010 and has shown great leadership skills and showed great captaincy ever since being named captain. He made his debut for France in the 2 – 0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in which he appeared as a substitute for the French team.
