Terry Ann Garr is a retired TV, film and theater actress of United States of America, known for her roles in various successful movies like “Young Frankenstein”, “Tootsie”, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, “Mr. Mom”, “One from the Heart” and “After Hours”. She was born on 11th December, 1944 in Ohio and started her career in 1963.

Popular Hollywood actress Teri Garr started her acting career in 1963, appearing as an extra in the movie titled “A Swingin’ Affair” followed by some TV appearances in “Pajama Party”, “Movin’ with Nancy” and “Hullabaloo”. In 1974, she appeared in her first major role in the movie titled “The Conversation”.

An impressive performance as a leading actress in “The Conversation” earned her a role in the hit comedy film titled “Young Frankenstein” in 1974. Following the success of “Young Frankenstein” she appeared in leading roles in movies including “Close Counters of the Third Kind”, “The Black Stallion” and “One from the Heart”.

In 1980s, she appeared in “Mr. Mom” and “After Hours” followed by an Academy Award nominated role in “Tootsie” in 1982. Teri Garr, although didn’t get many nominations and awards in her career but played crucial roles in a number of movies, which went on to become commercially successful movies.

The major breakthrough in her career came in 1982 in the movie titled “Tootsie”, in which she played the supporting role as the actress friend of Dustin Hoffman. She won her first ever Academy Award nomination in the category for best supporting actress for “Tootsie”.
