Elizabeth Maresal Mitchell (screen name Elizabeth Banks) is an American actress, writer, director and producer. She was born on 10th February, 1974 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts (USA).

Career Highlights

Since there was already an Elizabeth Mitchell in film, she took the name Banks. (She actually had a part in the 2000 film, Shaft, under the name Mitchell.) While she had several smaller parts before, her first truly big role was in the film “Spiderman”.

Then, she was off to the races in the blockbuster hit, “Seabiscuit”. With a fairly continuous string of films since, she shows no signs of losing momentum in her race to become one of Hollywood’s hottest leading ladies. She is known for her roles in “The Hunger Games”, “Pitch Perfect” and “Charlie’s Angels”.

Banks has been compared to a young Audrey Hepburn. She certainly has the Hepburn trait of making the most of her opportunities and the camera loves her. Audiences, it would seem, do so as well.

Though she has gotten some critical acclaim, primarily for her role in “Seabiscuit”, it would be nice to see her in a truly challenging role that wasn’t dominated by special effects or other superstars who cast very long shadows.

Elizabeth has been nominated for awards and she has won Best On-Screen Transformation MTV Award for her role in “The Hunger Games”. She has also won Best Female Lead Vocal Performance and Best Vocal Ensemble BTVA People’s Choice Award for “The Lego Movie” and Las Vegas Film Critics Society for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Love and Mercy”.
