Halle Maria Berry is an American TV and Film Actress, beauty queen, ex-fashion Model and the only woman of color to have won the Academy Award, born on 14th August, 1966.

Career Highlights

Berry started her career as a model and TV actress in 1980s, her first ever appearance in a TV series was in “Chicago Force” in 1980s. Having tested the waters she played a few more roles for various TV serials, “Living Dolls”, “Knots Landing” and “Queen” to name prominent ones.

TV Serials brought much needed fame and attention to Halle Berry and as a result she got a role in “Jungle Fever” by Spike Lee and subsequently she got roles in “Strictly Business”, “Boomerang” and “Flintstones” and many other movies. With her performances in “Bulworth” and “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” she proved her the versatility of her acting skills.

Mid 1990s onwards proved to be a golden period for her as she earned nomination after nomination for some prestigious awards in the world of cinema and won more than half of them. Among the awards she won include Emmy, SAG, NAACP Image Award, Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Actress.

She was nominated for Golden Globe Awards in the category for Best Lead Actress for her role in “Monster’s Ball” in 2001, NAACP Image Award in the category for Outstanding Actress in movie “Gothika” in 2004, Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Lead Actress and Best Actress respectively for movie “Their Eyes Were Watching God” (2005), and another nomination was Golden Globe Awards in the category of Best Actress for movie “Frankie and Alice” in 2011.

Her brilliant performances in movies “Alex Haley’s Queen”, “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge”, “Monster’s Ball”, “Swordfish”, “Die Another Day”, “Catwoman”, “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “Frankie and Alice” earned her various awards.
