Kate Noelle “Katie” Holmes is a well-known American actress, she was born on 18th December, 1978 in Ohio, US. She started her acting career from late 1990s and her role in the Warner Bros TV Drama Dawson’s Creek, earned her fame and she rose to prominence.
As for movies she started acting in movies in 1997 with “The Ice Storm”, but earned her first high profile leading role in “Disturbing Behavior”, released in 1998, followed by “Teaching Mrs. Tingle”, released in 1999. In 2000, she appeared with Michael Douglas in a cameo role in “Wonder Boys”, and with Keanu Reeves in “The Gift”.
Her role in “Abandon” received mixed reviews in 2002, and her other movies including “The Singing Detective” (2003) and “First Daughter” (2004) met with same fate, unlike “Pieces of April” which was termed by critics as her best performance. “Phone Booth” released in 2002, however, proved to be a good commercial success.
Lady luck finally smiled on Katie Holmes in 2005, when she earned a leading role in “Batman Begins”, which proved to be her most commercially successful movie to date. She also appeared in “Thank You for Smoking” in 2005, followed by “Mad Money” co-starring Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton.
Katie Holmes married with one of the best known faces of Hollywood, Tom Cruise. They divorced in 2012. Holmes has appeared in movies including “Eli Stone” playing the role as Grace in 2010 followed by “The Extra Man” with her role as Mary Powell and in “The Romantics” playing the role as Laura in 2011.
