Michael Kirk Douglas was born on 25th September 1944. He is an American actor and producer, who did justice with both fields winning Academy Awards first as a producer for 1975’s Best Picture, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” then as an actor for the movie “Wall Street” in 1987. He says that;
“I love the fact that on one side, with acting, you can be a child. On the other side, producing is fun for all the adult kinds of things you do.”
He was born in New Jersey with flimsy blood running in his veins. He was the first child of actor Kirk Douglas and actress Diana Dill. He studied at the University of California and received his BA degree in drama, where he was also the Honorary President of the UCSB Alumni Association. He also studied at American Place Theater in New York.
Douglas started his film career in the late 1960s, appearing in little known films like “Hail & Hero” and “Summertree”. His first significant role was in the TV series “The Streets of San Francisco”. His filming career went to the sky when he starred and produced the movie “Romancing the Stone”. He appeared in many box office hits such as “The War of The Roses”, “Basic Instinct” and “Traffic”. In 1994, Douglas and Demi Moore appeared in the movie based on theme of sexual harassment; “Disclosure” which won critical acclaim. He married Catherine Zeta-Jones in November 2000. They both happen to be born on the same date, however 25 years apart. Douglas received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2009.
