Robert De Niro, Jr. is an American actor, director & producer. He has appeared both in lead roles as well as supporting ones. Robert was born on 17th August 1943 and was raised by his mother, Virginia Holton Admiral, a painter and poet. He attended the High School of Music and Art but never graduated. He switched colleges as well as courses but his destiny was decided by his stage debut at age ten, playing the Cowardly Lion in his school’s production of “The Wizard of Oz”. He studied acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory as well as Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio.
De Niro’s first film role was in the movie “The Wedding Party” at the age of 20. He gained prominence with the movie “Bang the Drum Slowly” in which he took the role of dying baseball player. His memorable performance in “Mean Streets” won him wider acceptance among the critics. His exceptional performance in the movie “God Father II” won him the Oscar Award for the category of for Best Supporting Actor and he became the first actor to win an Academy Award speaking mainly a foreign language. He directed the movie “The Good Shepherd”, which starred Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie. The movie depicts the origins of the CIA.
