Alicia Christian “Jodie” Foster has worked as a producer, director and as an actress. Born on 19th November, 1962 in Los Angeles, California, she started her acting career as a child star, appearing in various commercials as the age of just three years.
Foster appeared in a TV Series “Mayberry”, “R.F.D.” and “The Doris Day Show” during the time period of 1968-1970. Her film debut came in 1970’s TV movie “Menace on the Mountain”, followed by many roles in Disney movies like “Napoleon and Samantha”, “Candleshoe” and “One Little Indian” to name the significant ones.
It was in the year 1976 when she was offered a significant role in the movie “Taxi Driver”. It proved to be an ideal start for Jodie Foster as she earned the Academy award nomination in the category of best supporting actress. After her Academy Award nomination she got more work in movies like “Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane”, “Bugsy Malone” as well as “Freaky Friday”, all in the same year of 1976.
The lady luck smiled on Jodie Foster in years to follow as in 1989 she won her maiden Academy award in the category of Best Actress for her brilliant performance in The Accused and in 1991 her role of a FBI trainee in the movie “The Silence of the Lambs” brought her second Academy Award again in the same category of Best Actress.
As far as her awards and nominations are concerned she has them in plenty, she is the recipient of two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three BAFTA Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a People’s Choice Award along with two nominations for Emmy Awards.
