10th Lux Style Awards 2011

The city of lights Karachi played host to the most awaited extravaganza of the year the 10th Lux Style Awards 2011. The colorful ceremony was presented by Mahira Khan and Faizan Haque who were also assisted by the boys from Banana Republic Mubeen Gabol and Murtaza Chaudry. There was never a dull moment when the BNN boys took over the stage as the crowd enjoyed their rib-cracking jokes.

The highlight of the event was perhaps the dance performance by the Lollywood queen Reema and her partner the designer Hasan Sheheryar who surprised and thrilled the audience with his moves. The real life couple Amina Sheikh and Mohib Mirza’s performance was also appreciated by the audience as they paid tribute to the singer Mehnaz.

Mathira and Meera also performed on the songs of Mehnaz who was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the year. Another person to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award was Samina Ibrahim who introduced the idea of fashion spreads in magazines. Glowing tributes were also paid to the legendary actor/host and comedian Moin Akhtar by Sahira Kazmi and Imran Aslam.

In the awards category Bushra Ansari won the Best Actor Female (Satellite TV) award for her role in Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat while Faisal Qureshi bagged the Best Actor Male (satellite TV) for Meri Zaat Zara Benishaan. For terrestrial TV Javed Sheikh and Sania Saeed walked away with the Best Actor Male and Best Actor Female awards respectively.

11th Lux Style Awards 2012

Lux Style Awards are the most prestigious and glamorous awards of the TV and film industry in Pakistan. In 2012, the 11th Lux Style awards ceremony took place in Karachi and was hosted by none other than our very own Master of Events Ali Ahmed Butt.

The main feature of the 11th Lux Style Awards was the tribute paid to the King of Ghazals Mehdi Hasan by Ali Zafar. Although it is very difficult to come up to the level of Mehdi Hasan’s singing, Ali Zafar did justice through his soulful rendition of the song “Mujhay tum nazar sey”. Ali Zafar also paired up with Humaima Mallick to give a scintillating performance on his songs from the Indian movies he had acted in.

Tributes were also paid to the legend Ahmed Rushdie as Ahmed Jahanzeb, Amanat Ali and Bilal Khan sang while Faisal Qureshi, Meera, Sana, Mathira, Ahsan Khan and Junaid Khan danced to the melodious tunes. The lady who did us proud by winning an Oscar Award Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy was honored with a special award.

In the films category, Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol emerged as the winner bagging all coveted prizes such as Best Film, Best Actor Male (Manzar Sehbai) and Best Actor Female (Humaima Mallick). For terrestrial TV Nauman Ijaz and Sanam Baloch were declared Best Actor Male and Best Actor Female respectively while Faisal Qureshi and Saweera Nadeem won the honors for satellite TV.
